If you are visiting in January, try your hand at the ‘National Snow Photo Contest’ here in Kufri. A short walk will take you through the colonial-Esque statues at Chini Bungalow to the Himalayan nature reserve.

    Go to Koti for a picnic in the untouched gardens surrounded by orchards. The tall pine and deodar forests show access to the Chail about 2250 meters above the MSL. Famous for the world’s highest cricket stadiums and polo field (2444 meters above the MSL), Chail is also home to the beautiful Maharaja of Patiala summer palace built-in 1891 (during the British exile in Shimla). Go back in time using the fascinating Indo-English buildings set in the fertile grass with balconies and hallways echoing the words of the past.

  5. Kipling’s home and Viceregal Lodge
  6. What makes Shimla so special is its glorious past, the days when it was the summer capital during the British Raj era. Beneath the temple in Kali Bari, North Bank, lies a modest house once housed by an unusual writer, Rudyard Kipling. The Nobel laureate has spent most of his summer holidays here while the memories of the Jungle Book continue. Go to Viceregal Lodge. This was originally built as a home for the family and a subsequent breed of viceroys and general rulers of India.
