Situated on the Beas river, amidst attractive forests of cedars, enclosed by snowy peaks and the unending roar of the Beas, Manali offers unique opportunities for trekking, rock climbing, angling as well as winter sports.

Climate:

The climate is very pleasant except during the winters when the night temperature drops below zero degrees Celsius. The springtime brings blossoms, flowers, and butterflies to the valley along with offering a completely rejuvenating experience. Manali is certainly cooler than Kullu. During winters, there is heavy snowfall whereas, in the monsoon season, Manali gets heavy rainfall, and thus, it is advisable to always travel with enough warm clothing.

Best time to visit:

September to November: The monsoon season ends in September and winter starts commencing from October. The temperature in winters goes down so, make sure you carry enough woolens to keep yourself warm, especially for the chilly nights.

December to January: It is the time when you can enjoy snowfall and the spectacular scenic white views of the surrounding mountains, which is the favorite thing of the honeymooners. It is also the ideal time for adventure enthusiasts who want to relish the winter sports.

March to June:Summer hops in from March but, the weather is still pleasant in the region. The temperature during these months usually varies, so you might need light woolens during the night. It is the right time to involve in adventurous activities such as paragliding, rafting, trekking and mountain adventures in the Solang Valley.

July to August: Monsoons can be tricky as the place experiences heavy rainfall. But, considering a lot of tourists who don’t prefer to travel during this time, the prices of hotels tend to drop.

How to Reach:

By Air –Bhuntar is the nearest airport. There are many domestic flights that connect Bhuntar with Delhi and Chandigarh.

By Bus – Manali is very well-connected to famous tourist destinations such as Leh, Shimla, Kullu, Dharamshala, and New Delhi. One can choose air-conditioned Volvo coaches, as they are more comfortable than ordinary ones.

By Road– The drive up to Manali is breath-taking as you can catch scenic glimpses of the adjoining mountains and valleys from almost every turn.
