What comes to your mind when someone says ‘Himachal Pradesh’?

In Himachal Pradesh, you will see lazily grazing sheep, awe-inspiring deep gorges, dense alpine forests, and calm mountain lakes with dazzling scenery around. These are the images that come to mind when one hears the name of this North Indian state. But Himachal Pradesh is much more than that.

Tourists attraction of Shimla Hill station

Home to the famous Shimla hill station, Kullu-Manali summer vacation destination, stunningly beautiful valleys of Kinnaur, Kangra, Lahaul, Spiti, Vashishth Jogini Waterfall Trekking and Himachal Pradesh attracts tourists not only from India but also from abroad.

Himachal Pradesh’s fast-flowing river system is a paradise for adventure sports enthusiasts and offers a variety of sports such as rafting, skiing on the snowy slopes of Kufri, or paragliding at Bir-Billing in Kangra. Trekking along treacherous trails in Pin Parvati Pass, Beas Kund, and Hampta will be an experience of a lifetime.

Beauty of Vashishth Jogini Waterfall

Leaving aside the famous and strenuous treks of Himachal, there are many relatively easy and mild treks scattered throughout the state. Trekking to Jogini Falls from Manali via Vashisht Temple is one of those treks that can surely qualify as the best short trek in Himachal.

Jogini Waterfall

It is a beautiful waterfall, the beauty of which you will remember for a lifetime. The distance of the Jogini waterfall is just 3 km from the Vashisht temple near Manali. On the outskirts of Vashisht village, a small stream jumps off a cliff to form this amazing waterfall. The stream then flows down to join the Beas River near the Kullu Valley. The height of Jogini Falls from sea level is about 150 feet.

Religious Significance of Waterfall

Apart from the obvious natural beauty of the waterfall, the place also has religious significance. At the foot of the waterfall is a temple of the village goddess Jogini Mata. Local people visit the temple for Mundan (Chudakaran) and on some other occasions.

Climbing the rock cliff to the top of the Jogini waterfall is quite exciting and takes only 15 minutes. But if you don’t want to trek anymore, you can swim in the water pool or just look at the majesty of the waterfall and the surrounding nature, which can bring you immense pleasure.

Vashisht Temple

6 km from Manali there is a local attraction which is a temple dedicated to sage Vashishta and the village where the temple is located is named after this sage. In the temple, you will find intricate wooden curves on the walls and pillars. The mesmerizing traditional Himachal architecture of the temple will compel you to open your camera shutter and indulge in a few clicks.

Near the Vashisht temple is a sulfur-enriched hot spring which is said to have miraculous powers in curing skin diseases and infections. The spring has separate areas for men and women to ensure a comfortable immersion in the hot water. All these sight seeing is usually covered in a Manali trekking package.

Conclusion

The state has a rich cultural heritage that can be seen in its vibrant festivities. Apart from being a tourist destination, you will find pilgrimage and spiritually significant places, temples, monasteries, churches, and gurudwaras that attract pilgrims and spiritual seekers of various faiths throughout the year.
